the offers that people say they are going to Had her. Everybody knows about the Sula affair. The dusty Sultan of Sulu saw her at a review, and at onro laid an eighth part of his heart at her foot, declaring that he would make har one of his wives, and Sultans of the Archi pelago. Miss Roosevelt thought su oighth part of a Saltar's affections not enough, and declined the offer.

In one of the French journals the following paragraph has appeared, forwarded by a Copon- lagen correspondsus:-

ALICE THE FIRST, QUEES OF THE VAL- RYLIES The great success of the peace negotiations, which has invested President- Roosevelt with a prostige almost royal in its character

may very easily turn the heads of the Norwegians As a matter of fact, the. modern Valkyries, who intond to leke their sbure in the sofection of the future Sovereign of Norway, have already sent petition after potition to Miss Roosevelt, offering her the Town. It may be possible after all that the Princess Alico, as her compatriots call her, will not regret having refused to share the tlirono the Sultan of Sula. Inspired by this paragraph, an Express correspondent in Lower Brittany sent the fllowing communication:

The Ladies' Committee of the Celtis Inde. pendence in Brittany, urer which presides her Graco Malamo la Duchome de Rohen. assisted by the Marquise Jo Mac-Mahou, and several been invaed. through marriages and other other ladies of American birth (Brittany having circumstances into a virtual province of the United States) is contemplating an appeal to all Roosevelt the succession of the Duchess Aune, the women of the ex-dnohy for off ring to Miss on the ground of the violation by Franco of the Treaties of Reunion in 1582"
