Sir Edwart Fry, who has been appointed Legal Assessor to the British Commissioner, was a Judge of the High Court, Chancery Division, from 1877 to 1883, and a Lord Justice of Appeal from the latter year until 182, when he retired on a pension. He is a member of the Court of International Arbitration at The Hague, a Fellow of the British Academy, and a member of the Histori- cal Manuscripts Commission; he presided over the Royal Commission on the Irish Land Acts, 1897-98, and he was chairman of the Court of Arbitration under the Metropolitan Water Act. 1902.
