A BETRACT OF THE HOSPITAL. REPORT.
The routine work of the hospital has been painterrupted during the past year. This involves a prompt response to nearly thirty thon and applications for medical aid, the upkeep, repair, and cleanliness of ten buildings, with adjoining premises, and the provision of large supplies, all to be conducted with strict economy and receiving the personal supervision of the surgeons in charge.
.!
The hospital report will show how in recent years the Chinese have by special subscriptions contributed largely to the extension and oquip ment of the hospital plant. We gratefully recognize the aid they have thus rendered, marking as it does a genuine interest whare formerly here may have been indifference or aven hostility-
The constraction of a Burd fity-two feet wide along the river front has neersitated the exten. sion and change of our boundary line to anoderats ex out, but this improvement more than compensates for the expenso involved.
"recent inspection of the hospital premises shows the buildings t: be in a good stata of repair. We are indebted to Msers Purnell and Pagel and to Mr Meyers, of the railway service, for a complete survey of the hospital premises as shown in the surgeons report now being published.

It was resolved that his report be approved and accepted and the estimates for the current year, as presented, were authorized.
The special lines of advancement are shown by the equipment and opening of the Society's Medi- cal College, and the enlarging of evangalistic work which bas required the rebuilding on a larger Preston Memorial Chapel, the former building scale of the hospital church known as the having become quite coo small for the large audiences which attend. The enlargement of six thousand dollars, has been largely the result | zation Committee was theu prosented by the this building, which with furnishing has cost | The report of the Society's College Organi of an effort on the part of the members of the Committee Chairman, Mr. Chambers, and was Second Presbyterian Church, who contributed read as follows. forty-five hundred dollars toward this work, This church is entirely self-supporting and employa evangelistic workers
