WITH THE PENTI AND MANDAEIN PRONUNCIATION,

For comprehensiveness and practical service this Work stands uurivalled. All the new words which the Chineso have of late yours been com pelled to coin to express the numerous objects in machinery, photography, telegraphy and in science gouerally, which the rapid advance of foreign relations has imposed upon them, are horn given in extenso. Each and every word is fully illustrated and explained, forming ozervises for students of u most instructive nutura Both the Court and Punti pronanciations are given, the accents being carefully marked on the best principle hitherto attained. The typography displays the success of an attempt to make the Chinese and English type correspond in the size of body, thereby wifecting a vast economy of a clecnoss not previously space, whigving attained, and dispensing with those vast margins and vacant spaces which have heretofore churae. terized Chinese publications,
