The explorers who wore led to investigate the marine-like fagus of Lake Tanganyika have made an interesting report. The great rift val- ley that crosses East Africa rises just north of Tanganyika into a barrier that ence formed part of the divide between the drainge systems of the Nile and the Congo, but a group of large and active volcances 50 miles farther north, one of them 13,000 foot high, have built a second. barrier across the valley, and taraeil southward the waters of Lake Kivu, raising its surface Learly 2,000 feet.
