The British steamer Tozuan, from Shanghai 8th Dec., had strong northerly breeze and fresh gale to Chapel Island, thenes to port fresh to light breeze and clear weather.
The British stoumor Airlie, from Yokohama 1st Dec., and Kobe 5th, experienced moderate winds and fine weather to Kobe; thence to Goto Island fine weather and slight sea with mode- rate N.W. winds, which increased to a very heavy N.W. gale; at midnight on the 6th, with very high bean sea; at 4 am on the 7th, hove to, gale increasing, with a very heavy wea; at 11 am., game date, put the ship before the wind, using oil with great mocess; ut 5.40 p.m. put the ship on her course again, wind and sou moderating little, oil still being used. On the 5th instant fresh gelo and high sea continuing, but gra- dually moderating; ut midnight, me date, fresh breeze and moderating son, wind gradually shift- ing to the NE; at 7.46 ani. on the 9th Tung Yang Island abear; fresh N.E. monsoon and following sea, wind and weather continuing the same to Laniock Island; thence to arrival mode rato N.E. breeze and sea.
