UNDER WHICH KING ?

The whole district is very artiforsign WAR the answer, as I have heard from very reliable informants. Why cannot the missionaries go to other parts of China where they vill not bo in danger, and where they can do good work in comfort? There are plenty of other places where they can go to, but they will go to the vary worst places. A good many of our mis sionarias are up in the North, and they often write me very nice secounts of how comfortably they are working. But some of our missionaries are very headairang, they want the martyr's ansarown, and they persist in going to places where it is not the wish of our government they abould go. It is not the wish of the home go. verament they should put their noees into the fire and expose themselves to danger. The mis- sieasties, tog, are frequently T-informed as to the feeling of the natives. They have a teacher. or servants who come from another distriol, and they go by what they say. Of padre, it is to the interest of these servants, who are supposed to ba half-Christixo, to zay things are all right. But they know nothing of the lost foaling. noning from another district, and though Man heng and Sungpt are very zalitoratga they say it is all right. You know what the Chiuose are in such things"
