External trade figures for June

The external trade figures for June 1996 released today (Friday) by the Census and Statistics Department showed that total exports and imports had decreased over those of the corresponding period last year.

The value of total exports (comprising re-exports and domestic exports) decreased by 5% over a year carlier to $108.8 billion in June 1996.

The value of re-exports decreased by 2.2% to $91.9 billion, while the value of domestic exports decreased by 18% to $16.9 billion. Meanwhile, the value of imports decreased by 4% over a year earlier to $123.8 billion in June 1996.
