New Port Development Board Chairman announced
The Hong Kong Government today (Thursday) announced the appointment of Mr Peter Thompson as Chairman of the Hong Kong Port Development Board (PDB) with effect from June 1, 1996, for a period of two years.
Mr Thompson will take over from Mr John Gray who has been the Chairman since PDB was formed in April 1990. Mr Gray will retire from the PDB on May 31.
Appointed as a member of PDB since its inauguration in 1990, Mr Thompson has served as the Chairman of PDB's Mid Stream Operations Committee and is Chairman of the Lantau Port Liaison Group and Sub-Committee on Mid Stream Operations. A lawyer by profession, Mr Thompson has practised maritime law for almost 30 years.
He is a member of the Public Service Commission and was Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association and a member of the steering group on the Hong Kong Shipping Register.
Fourteen members will be re-appointed to PDB also with effect from June 1.

The Director of Planning (Ex Officio)
At the same time, the term of office of Mr Gerry Forsgate and Mr Li Ke-jun has been extended to May 31, 1998.
Two new members will also be appointed to PDB with effect from June 1 for a period of two years. They are:
