Trauma cases handled by hospital emergency departments

Following is a question by Dr the Hon Huang Chen-ya and a reply by the Secretary for Security, Mr Peter Lai, in the Legislative Council today (Wednesday):

Question:

Will the Government inform this Council of:

(a)

(b)

(c)

the number of trauma and blood loss cases handled by the accident and emergency departments of public hospitals in each of the past three

years;

of the cases mentioned in (a) above, how many patients arrived in shock and how many patients were dead on arrival; and

of the capability of the emergency ambulance service of providing emergency medical care to the patients during transportation?

I have been advised by the Hospital Authority that the number of trauma patients, including cases of blood loss, received at the accident and emergency departments of public hospitals over the last three years are:
