He has been made a MBE for his exceptional contribution to the Gurkha Manning and Records Office during a most difficult period of large-scale redundancies for the Brigade of Gurkhas. He is regarded as a unique authority on Gurkha pay, pensions and personnel matters. The citation states "he has been of indispensable benefit and reassurance to all ranks." He shortly returns to Nepal on completion of 28 years' service.
Captain Alex Tse Chun-ying, Resettlement Officer HKMSC
Captain Tse has been made a MBE for his major influence on the resettlement of retired or redundant HKMSC personnel during a demanding period. He has developed many contacts with potential employers and has worked selflessly to obtain future employment for the Garrison's Locally Enlisted Personnel. As a result of his efforts, every LEP who has left the Royal Navy or HKMSC since 1989 has found further employment. The citation states that this "extraordinary and selfless contribution is especially worth of official recognition". He has recently retired after 28 years' service.
Colour Sergeant Rachhabahadur Gurung, Orderly Room Quartermaster Sergeant, 1RGR
Awarded for his exceptional contribution during the battalion's tour in Belize in 1994. Although junior for the post, he used his initiative and leadership qualities to supervise the administration of the Battalion during a short-notice tour and with the amalgamation of the battalion about to occur. The citation states that he was "an inspiration to those with whom he serves... in the highest traditions of the Service". He is still serving with IRGR.
Staff Sergeant George Grant Adjutant General's Corps (RMP)
SSgt Grant's MBE is made for his tour as Platoon Commander of the Sek Kong Detachment of the Royal Military Police. He made an exceptional contribution to the local community through his support for the weekly Sek Kong market, help out of working hours and one particular incident when
he prevented a serviceman, who had poured petrol over himself, from committing suicide. The citation states that he "faced enormous responsibility, particularly for his rank, with the greatest professional skill and dedication". He is now serving in the United Kingdom.
