Lt Col Shuttlewood has been made an OBE for commanding his battalion through two amalgamations: the formations of Second Gurkha Rifles and the First Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles. Overall he had to supervise the redundancies of some 400 of his soldiers during a period of great change for the Brigade of Gurkhas. The citation states that his "conduct, resilience and performance in the face of formidable difficulties have been outstanding and proved an inspiration and encouragement to all ranks." He is now serving in the United Kingdom.

MBE

Major Joe Sandison QGM Grenadier Guards

Major Sandison is made a MBE for his tour as Quartermaster of the 1st Battalion the Grenadier Guards. He played a major part in supporting the Battalion in its ceremonial role in London and during a six-month operational deployment. His outstanding contribution ensured the well- being of all members of the battalion and in particular the junior ranks.

Major (QGO) Lalbahadur Gurung GM IRGR

He has been made a MBE for his exceptional contribution during the amalgamation of 2 Gurkha Rifles and 6 Gurkha Rifles to form 1 Royal Gurkha Rifles in a particularly difficult and demanding time. When the morale of the battalions might well have slipped, his outstanding leadership and sensitive approach ensured that both amalgamations went smoothly. The citation states that he has been a "remarkable Gurkha Major".
