COMPARING THE PERIOD JANUARY TO FEBRUARY 1988 PERIOD IN 1987 AND ANALYSED BY MAJOR TRADE GROUPS, ROSE BY 15 PER CENT IN VALUE AND 8 PER CENT IN VOLUME.

WITH THE SAME SALES OF FUELS

FOODSTUFFS, ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AND TOBACCO RECORDED INCREASES 11 PER CENT IN SALES VALUE AND 3 PER CENT IN SALES VOLUME.

ON THE SAME BASIS OF FOOTWEAR AND ALLIED PRODUCTS 33 PER CENT IN VOLUME.

COMPARISON, RETAIL INCREASED BY 17 PER
