which had the greatest impact on the development of Chinese painting in
South China of the oarly 20th century. His works have been widely exhibited
in Hong Kong and in many capitals throughout the world, including Frussels,
Moscow, Paris, Berlin, Peking, Lisbon, Tokyo, London, Romo, and Washington DC.
Today he is internationally renowned for his paintings of birds, animals,
flowers and landscapes. He is also the founder of the "Lingnam Art Studio"
which has been a training centre for any noted painters of birds, flowers and
animals in the Lingnam style.

Mr. CHIU Shing
Mr. Chiu first joined the Government service as a Coolic in the
Hedical and Health Department in 1947 and was appointed Area Officer in the
Resettlement Department in 1952. He was promoted through the Resettlement
Officer ranks and regraded as Senior Housing Manager in 1973.
Throughout his long ears of service he has proved himself invaluable
in the fields of Squatter Control and Clearance. He has planned and executed
numerous large scale clearance operations, demonstrating leadership, tact of
a high order and great confidence in difficult circumstances. The implementation
of the Government's development programme over the last few years without
serious confrontation owes much to his efforts.

After serving in the RN Armament Depot (HM Dockyard) for 13 years,
Mr. Chow was transferred to the Hong Kong Government in 1959 as a Temporary
Clerk. He was promoted to Liaison Officer Class II and was instrumental
in successful negotiations on land documents reristration in connection with
the removal of three villages, for which he was coumended.
