Mr. LAI Sze-nuen, J.P.

-

As Director of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in 1966, Principal

Director in 1967-69, Chairman of the Board in 1969-70 and subsequently Adviser

to the Board, Mr. Lad made an invaluable contribution to youth training,

property rebuilding, temple management, staff training and welfare, expansion

of secondary education and development of medical service. Mr. Lai is also

very active in the Buddhist circle and devotes considerable effort to youth

work. He is Vice-Chairman of the Scout Association responsible for Kowloon

Region, Chairman of the Venture Scout Board and Chairman of the Scout Programme

and Training Committee. Mr. Lai has been Chairman of the Yau Ma Tei East Area

Committee since 1972 in connection with the Keep Hong Kong Clean and Fight

Violent Crime campaigns and appointed an unofficial member of the Yau Ma Tei

City District Committee from 1973.

Miss Zarina MINU

Miss Minu has served as Personal Secretary to successive Directors

of Urban Services since 1960. She is meticulously accurate, conscientious,

insistent on the highest standards, and fiercely loyal to the department.

As a secretary, she is outstanding, and as a civil servant she sets an example

to colleagues that would be hard to match.

Mrs. Noreen Patricia REES

Mrs, Rees joined the service in 1960 and since 1968 she has been

Personal Secretary to successive Political Advisers. Her work has called

for integrity, intelligence and ability to deal with a wide variety of people.

She has carried out her various tasks with perseverence, patience and skill.

At times of crisis she has had to work long hours and even when there is no

crisis her workload is heavy. Her cheerful acceptance of this has contributed

greatly to the efficiency of the P.A.'s office over the years,
