Miss Annie Hannah CALDERWOOD

Miss Annie Calderwood was a Police Officer for 24 years, having
served in the Strathclyde Police from 1954 to 1966 and in the Royal Hong
Kong Police from 1966 until her retirement in late 1978. She was not only
the senior woman police officer in the Royal Hong Kong Police, but also
one of its more senior officers who, by her integrity, high professional.
ability, strength of character and charm of manner, set a splendid example
not only to the women officers but to the whole Force. During her last
11⁄2 years she was Commandant of the Police Training School, where her
outstanding qualities of firm, inspired and compassionate leadership
put her own stamp on those being trained, and imbued them with her own
high standards.

Mr. Robert William SAMPSON
Mr. Sampson joined the Hong Kong Government as an Executive
Officer, Class II in 1954 after more than five years service as an
Executive Officer in the Colonial Office. He was posted to the Treasury
and transferred to the newly inaugurated Treasury Accountant Grade in
1960. From the beginning of 1961 he served in a number of large
departments including Commerce and Industry Department, New Territories
Administration, Urban Services Department, Medical and Health Department
and Public Works Department. He was promoted to Chief Treasury Accountant
and subsequently to Principal Treasury Accountant (now Assistant Director
of Accounting Services) on 1.4.76 and became Deputy Director of Accounting
Services on 14.3.78. Throughout his service, Mr. Sampson has displayed
outstanding qualities of judgment and capability.
