On Cheung Chau, work will stert soon on the reclamation which
will involve the resumption of land and houses. The Government will pre-
arrange temporary accommodation for vill gers so that their daily life
will not be affected.
The plans for the dumb-bull shaped island also call for investment
in light industry and residential development. second public pier will
be constructed to cope with the increasing need for ferry transport.
Peng Chau has completed its preliminary estimates on the construction
of a new pier since the existing one cannot cope with the busy sea traffic.
Construction work is expected to start towards the end of next year.

Mr. Yung also outlined other development plans.
On land transport, road widening work on South Lantau is in
progress and double-decker buses are expected to be on the road as
experimental tests have proved successful.
Country parks are also planned for Lantau Island and boundaries
have been marked.

Bungalows and hotels will be built for the convenience of tourists and holiday-makers and Crown Land will be auctioned for this purpose
