he was responsible for the theatres, public library and museum. In those
formative years, he exerted tremendous influence in developing popular
entertainment, cultural presentations and the arts. He was promoted to
Deputy Director of Urban Services in 1973.

Mr. Anthony Denia CCMENDEN, J.P.
Hr. Ockenden was appointed Commissioner of Banking in 1974, after
a successful career in the Bank of England.
He has been instrumental in developing and regulating the banking
and financo industry in Hong Kong and has done much to develop Hong Long as
a leading financial centre in the region.
