FLATS TO HOUSE 60,000
The Housing Authority is to provide more than 10,000 flats in high
rise blocks which will be built on a 70-acre site in Clearwater Bay Road near
Anderson Road in Kowloon.
These blocks form part of Shun Lee Tauen, a multi-million-dollar
project to be carried out in stages over the next four to five years.
When completed, this housing estate will house 60,000 people.
will be a self-contained township with shops, markets, a large commercial
complex, multi-storey carparks and schools.

A number of construction firms, which have shown an interest in the
building work have been asked to submit tenders for the phase I, stage II of this housing project.
This phase of work includes the building of three 21 to 24-storey
twin-tower blocks, a primary school and a three-storey carpark, the roof of
which will be used as a children's playground.
Site formation is nearing completion.
Foundation and buildin; vorin
are expected to start in about two months for completion by mid-1973.
Phase II of this stage, which includes a number of joined slab blocku
with shopping and marketing facilities, is now being finalised and work should
start towards the end of this year.
These two phases of stage II on completion by 1978 should provide
homes for about 26,000 people.
