GET TOGETHER FOR FACTORY WORKERS

Seven factories in San Po Kong are co-operating with the Social Welfare Department's Community Centre in Wong Tai Sin to organize a Lunar New Year Variety Show for about 1,000 of their staff.

"This is the first time that such a project for factory workers has been conducted in the area which is mainly industrial," said Krs. Henrietta Chen, Warden of the Centre.

"Though factory workers can also join in any of the activities organized in the district, very little in the way of direct services has been organized for this group of our community, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to arrange something for them."

This out-reaching to factory workers, she said, was to help them make full use of their leisure hours at the same time giving them an outlet

for their talents.

It would also promote inter-factory relationship and community efforts among them.

Another aim, Mrs. Chen explained, was to provide managements with an opportunity to show their concern for the welfare of their employees.

This function, she said, will act as a stepping-stone towards achieving these goals and it was also hoped to involve more factories in

future.

The variety show will be held on Saturday (February 9) at the hall of Ho Lap College at 15 Tseuk Luk Street in San Po Kong starting at 8

Petie
