Since then, the department has continued to expand as a result

of the rapid increase in the number of vehicles and drivers, and the

need to regulate road traffic and to co-ordinate public transport services.

With its ever-increasing work load the department's present

accommodations at Blake Block, Queensway, have become insufficient and

new and larger premises have been made available in the Murray Road

Multi-storey Car Park.
