MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTIONS
The Government is considering a proposal to set up a semi-
automatic vehicle inspection centre to cope with the regular inspection
of all motor vehicles.

Mr. Szeto had asked whether the Government would consider the
installation of automatic testing equipment in its existing vehicle inspection centres to speed up testing and enable compulsory periodic
inspection of all motor vehicles.
Mr. Haddon-Cave said that as it was physically impossible to
expand the existing centres, consideration was being given to the setting up of a new centre, possibly a semi-automatic inspection centre.
