MAYOR OF OSAKA SENDS MESSAGE OF SYMPATHY TO GOVERNOR

The Mayor of Osaka in Japan, Mr. Yasushi Oshima, has sent a

message to the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose expressing sympathy for

the bereaved families of landslide victims.

The message reads: "I was shocked to learn of the catastrophic

landslides which took the lives of so many innocent people in your

territory and would like to extend through you on behalf of the citizens

of Osaka our deepest condolence and sympathies to the bereaved families

of the victims and wounded and I further wish the fast recovery of the

diaster stricken people and area."
