The Colonial Secretary
The Hon. E.B. Teesdale, C.M.G., M.C.
Mr. Edmund Brinsley Teesdale, Colonial Secretary, joined the Cadet
Service in Hong Kong in 1937. His first posting was Administrative Assistant
to the Chairman of the Urban Council. He joined the Hong Kong Volunteer
Defence Corps in 1939 and was mobilised with the Force in December, 1941,
He escaped from Hong Kong to China after the occupation of the Colony
by the Japanese and was later commissioned in the Indian Army. He saw service
in the Assam-Burma border and later with Force 136 in India and Ceylon and
with the British Army Aid Group in China.

The Attorney General
The Hon. M. Heenan, Q.C.
Mr. Maurice Heenan, Queen's Counsel, is Attorney General and an
Official Member of both the Executive and Legislative Councils. Born in New
Zealand, he was educated at Ashburton High School, New Zealand and at
Canterbury College, University of New Zealand graduating with the Degree of
Bachelor of Law. A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New
Zealand, he practised Law in New Zealand until 1939 when he volunteered for
overseas service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He saw active
service with the Eighth Army in the Western Desert and in Libya, Cyrenica and
Italy and was Mentioned in Despatches. He joined the Oversea Civil Service in
1946 and was posted to Jerusalem, Palestine as Crown Counsel.
He was
transferred to Hong Kong in 1948 as Crown Counsel. Appointed Senior Crown
