The Hon. P.Y. Tang
Mr. Tang Ping-yuan is Governing Director of the South Sea Textile
Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and also Governing Director of Mayfair Industries Ltd.
He is a Council Member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Member of the
Deportation and Detention Advisory Tribunal, and a Member of the Cotton
Advisory Board. Born in Wusih, Kiangsu Province, Mr. Tang graduated from
Tsing Hua University in 1920 and left for the United States on a Chinese
Government scholarship to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1923. After returning
to China, he joined his family enterprise first in Wusih and later in Shanghai.
In time, he rose to become the Managing Director of Ching Foong Cotton
Manufacturing Co., Ltd. with factories in Wusih and Shanghai. He expanded
his interests when he became the Managing Director of Kiu Foong Flour Mills
with factories in Wusih and the Jun Foong Edible Oil Co., Ltd. in Wusih,
After the Second World War, he founded the Kiangnan Coment Co., Ltd. with a
factory near Nanking. All his industrial enterprises had head offices in
Shanghai. He came to Hong Kong in 1948 and the following year organised the
South Sea Textile Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
The Hon. Tse Yu-chuen, O.B.E.
Mr. Tse Yu-chuen is President of the Causeway Bay Kaifong Welfare
Association, a Member of the Education Appeals Board, a Member of the Community
Relief Trust Fund Committee, a Member of the Deportation and Detention Advisory
Tribunal, a Member of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and a Member of
the Tenancy Tribunal. He was appointed an Unofficial Justice of the Peace in
1958, awarded the Coronation Medal in 1953 and was made an Officer of the
Order of the British Empire (0.B.E.) in 1958. He has served as Chairman of
the South China Athletic Association and also as Chairman of the Chinese
Amateur Athletic Federation. He was a Member of the Advisory Committee on
