Yeoman Bedgoer, who was invested with the Royal Victorian Medal by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Major Davies jained the Army in 1895, and has served in the Scots Guards and the Highland Light Infantry. His ancient title is a survival of the old days when the holders of the office were responsible for the comfort and security of the Sovereign when he retired for the night. Samy, who is three, has a hole in his heart- and specialists told his family at Bahrain, in the Persion Gulf, that they could do nothing for him. A multi-racial society Bahrain launched a public appeal and in few days raised £1,200 to send Samy to Eng- land. Sir Russell Brock will operate on Samy at London's Brompton Hos- pital.
