Yeoman Bedgoer, who was invested with the Royal Victorian Medal by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Major Davies jained the Army in 1895, and has served in the Scots Guards and the Highland Light Infantry. His ancient title is a survival of the old days when the holders of the office were responsible for the comfort and security of the Sovereign when he retired for the night.
