A whole string of blue-chip industrials receded on the kn- part of Courtaulds' foreast of iower profits.

European buying in a market short of stock, plus the firmer price of gold in the free market, helped push gold mining issues higher, Copper finished dull.

Oil receded and rubber stocka cased,
