waterspout, a good many years ago, from the safety of the Isle of Wight. I saw my second only recently, from the narrow deck of my 10-ton ketch Sea Wanderer in the West Indies. I hope my third will keep its distance. The one I have just seen was nearly my last.
I have met only one man who has been close to a waterspout and ved to tell the tale.
He is a West Indian fisherman called Sebastian, who still com plains about El hat. "Ah lost thuth f! nạt." he laments, "and, man, ali, nebber see it no more."
