A 44-year-old man from Singapore, Ang Hock-sang, who in
five months had carried out a systematic and planned
series of burglaries and housebreaking in houses at the Poak and Upper Level, was sentenced to five years by Mr Justice C. W. Reoco; Senior Puisne Judge, at the Criminal Sossians this morning.
The Crown Counsel told the Court that between August last year and January this year, Ang had broken into 14 houses and had stolen silverware, jewellery and currency amounting to some $20,000.. The victims in these theft cases included Mrs Beatrice Church, Professor `Edmund Blunden, the Rev. Canon A. P. Rose, the Rev. George She, Mr A. O. Small, Mr R. Sleap, Dr Li Shu-fan, Mr W. R. Zinky, and several others.
