The Queen told her people in an annual Christmas mes- sage today that she wanted her son and daughter to grow up as normally as possible and away from the spotlight of public life.
In one of her most informal Christmas chats, the Queen wished Britain and the world a "Happy Christmas" in a radio and television broadcast from the Royal Palace of Sandringham where she and her family spend every Christmas. With the Duke of Edinburgh sitting in the long library near her, the Queen said that many people had written mying they would like to see Prince Charles and Princess Anne appear with their mother on the annual broadcast.
