BRITAIN'S MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS OLDEST ARCHITECTURAL
Labour Party Confident
Of Following Up Recent Successes
By FRASER WIGHTON
London, Apr. 23.
Socialists here express confidence that they will follow up their recent successes against the Government in Parliamentary by-elections by considerable gains in the municipal elections to be held throughout the country from May 6-11.
The Labour Party believes that the two issues which dominated the Parliamentary by-elections-the high cost of living and the Govern- ment's new rent bill-will play an even bigger part in the fight for control of the borough, urban and rural district councils of England, Scotland and Wales.
These councils are elected on and Wales are involved in the a three-yearly cycle, with one- forthcoming contests. third of the council falling vacant each year, senta in each
