Surcharge of 15% on Base Rates of Freight from Hong Kong Thrift Area and Shanghai and North Chinn Tariff Area.
In accordance with the Press Announcement mado on 27th September the application of a Surcharge has remained in abeyance pending developments in the Suez Canal situation. Shippers were reminded that all quotations, cargo bookings and engaguments would continue to be subject to the rate of surcharge (if any) ruling at the commencement of loading the particular ship in the port of shipment concerned or, in the case of Through Cargo from Outports, at the date of the Through Bill of Lading.
In the light of recent devēlojiments, the Conference Lines now And it necessary to bring into effect 11 Surcharge of 155. nett (no discounts or rebutos).
This Surcharge will apply to the Tariff Base Rates on all commodițies and will be payable on all cargo shipped by vessels commencing to load at the port concerned on or after 8th November, 1956, and on Through Bills of Lading from Outporis dated 8th November, 1956, onwards. A number of commodities, C.K. certain Cereals, Seests. Oilenkes and Ores, as listed in Section VI of the Shanghai and North China Tariff are exempted from the surcharge from Hong Kong as well as from Shanghai and North China Ports.
