Millions of Africans in Britain's four West African territories, Nigeria, the Gold Coast, Sierra Leone and Gambia, have recently met the jet age for the first time.
The arrival of a Royal Air Force squadron of Canberra jet bombers during the recent tour of Nigeria by Queen Elizabeth II produced a sensation among the simple tribes people of these countries probably equal to the effect of their first sight of a white man in the last century.
