For 22 years Jimmy Seed has reigned supreme manager of Charlton Athletic. In that time he has raised them from a Third Division side to the First Division, won for them the FA Cup, sold players for thousands of pounds without ever dipping into the Charlton exchequer to purchase players himself. The financial balance on the credit side during those two decades is as staggering as the playing success.

Alec Stock, for 53 days assistant manager of Arsenal,

has resigned his job nt Highbury and taken over again the direction of Loyton Orient's promotion drive.

Stock did a normal morning's work at Highbury, during which he discussed with Arsenal manager Tom Whittaker the team to play at Burnley. The question of Orient's approach to Arsenal for Stock's release, raised by Mr Whittaker, was left over, by. mutual agreement, until recently.

At 1.30 Stock met Mr Zussman in his Shoreditch warehouse. Half an hour later the jubliant Orient chairman telephoned Orlent cerotary Arthur Huggett and sadd "TELL. THE BOYS ALEC IS BACK WITH US."
