Spectacular Falls CLAIR SOLEIL WINS CHAMPION HURDLE ROYAL H.K. DEFENCE
In Grand National Callover Prices
London, Mar, 24.
There were some spectacular falls in the prices of leading candidates for tomorrow's Grand National Steeple. chase at tonight's Victoria Club Callover here.
Bookmakers face heavy losses as a result of the low- priced Military Court's win in the Lincolnshire Handicap yesterday, and many of them were trying to balance their books in view of the amount they stood to lose on bets in the "Spring Double," of which the Grand National is the 'second leg..
who
The 1953 winner, Early Mist, was offered at 21-2 at Monday's Callover, dropped three to 15-2 while second points favourite, Tudor Line, came from 100-7 to 19-2.
The Chairman of the Victoria Club announced that becAUSD D the doubt abou: Goosinder run ning, he would not be called.
Fancied horses backed to win over £250,000 Sterling Other well supported were Irish Lizard, who dropped from 20-1 to 100-7, and Mr Linnett (28-1 to 22-1).

Tomorrow's Chances At The Valley
By "RAPIER"
The Hongkong Jockey Club's Ninth Meeting of the season will be held tomorrow afternoon. The first saddling bell will be rung at 1.30 p.m. with the first race at 2.00 p.m.
An attractive programme of 10 events with satisfactory entries has been drawn up for this meeting, outstanding among which is the Shaukiwan Handicap for Class 2 ponies over the two-mile post.
Here are my estimates of the {' chances:-
FIRST RACE
·Tanglowan Handicap: From 2-Mile
Post.
Class 7 ponies will contest the opening event of the alternoon for Novice Riders. The fellow ing should be worth watching Desert Gold (Mr Andrew Chan) Fleetmaster (Mr Start Liu), V.1.P.
(Mr Alex Lam), and Tune-phone (Mr Herbers Lee),
Desert Gold, which won the Mount Nicholson Handicap (First Section) for Class 8 ponies over the mile at the last meeting, ap: pears the logical choice. It ran very convincingly in the above race and should have a good chance of scoring another win
here.
