Quemoy Island, Feb. 3.

A high Chinese Nationalist source said here today that if the Tachen Islands fell, the Com- munists would immediately attack the Quemoy Islands near the big Communist port of Amoy.

General Liu Yu-chang, commander of the Quemoy defence command, told 25 foreign corres- pondents who visited the island this afternoon that 200,000 Communist troops in Fukien were ready at any moment to launch an invasion against the Quemoy Islands if they had sufficient air and naval support.

General Liu, 52-year-old veteran field commander whose troops successfully covered the evacuation of Nationalist troops from Shanghai in 1949, said the Communists could transfer about 300 Russian-built planes to within easy striking distance of the islands under his command.
