Government Indications

That Easy Money Policy Will Hold

By JOHN MORKA

New York, Dec. 20. Indications that the U.S. Government would hold-at least for the immediate future to its policy of "cushioning" the economy with a' programme of "easier money” and low interest rates highlighted develop-· ments and financial circles this week.

A statement by Chairman William McCheyney Martin, Jr, that the Federal Reserve System is maintaining its easy money policy helped lift stock market prices on Wednesday after two days of profit-taking this week. Mr Martin is a key figure in regulating the U.S. money supply. He indicated that any envisioned change in the monetary policy either way

would be gradual.
