LEFT WING OR RIGHT WING? UNNATURAL POSITION TRICKS OPPONENTS

By TOM FINNEY

For

This Wednesday in Dublin the Football League play their annual match with the League of Ireland. I shall be on the left wing. Preston North End I always play on the right wing and this switch always seems to produce questions like "Is Finney as good on the left as on the right?" or even "Is Finney any good at all on the left?"

Now It is no secret that I prefer to play on the right, a preference › which- puzzles a lot of people because I'am naturally left-footed, although constant practice and use has given me a right foot that is now very nearly as "natural" as the other

Hard fought mulches in any sport have, inevitably, in their make-up, an element of tragedy, and so it was at the LRC last evening where in the semi-finals of the Colony Ladies' Doubles Championship, Mre C. R. Getz, having played the game of her life, with the score at 9-all in the second set, fell very heavily, gave herself a badly cut knee and a severe shaking and she and her partner, Mrs M. Pepperall had to retire from the game.

They had been within two points of winning the first set and had made a glorious comeback after being 5-2 down in the second and then, a short one, very short, and very deep on the backhand.

Mrs Getz tried, as she always, Boon Sing will, to retrieve, tripped, and it | (Court 3).
