She beat the greatly fancied Russian, Alexandra Chudina, and now has a great opportunity to complete a "double" by taking the Women's 80 Metres Hurdles for which she is one of the favourites.

Germany's Heinz Futterer won the Men's 100 Metres final in 10.5 seconds from Frenchman Rene Bonino with Britain's George Ellis third.

COUNTY CRICKET

CHAMPIONSHIP

London, Aug. 27.

Surrey, with a storming finish, swept to victory in the English County Cricket Championship for the third successive season when they whipped Worcestershire at the Oval here today by an innings and 27 runs.

During the three seasons they have dominated county cricket, the Southern County have lost only 10 games. They struck such tremendous form that they have won eight of their last nine matches, giving them 100 points from one month's cricket.
