Stock-Car Racing Says Aussie

By J. W. TAYLOR

The Bethnal Green Road Safety Committee may protest; the National Speedway Control Board may talk of vetos; the Royal Automobile Club may ponder the question of permits for drivers, but Australian John Pugh, who is interested in the plan to bring stock-car racing to London, says quite emphatically that he will open his first track in London, and that by the end of this year at least 35 more tracks will be operating in various parts of Britain.

This new racing thrill for the millions has spread from the United States, where it started three years ago, to most of the countries of Europe, and there it is having a phenominal boom.

There's big money in it, too. The crowds are enormous, and they are pre- pared to pay good prices for what is considered to be a more thrilling and Blood-curdling sport than spoedway racing, and undoubtedly rivals the ancient charlot racing for its dangers,
