World tonnage of merchant ships under con- struction at the end. of March dropped by 127,874 tons compared with December 31, Lloyds Register of Shipbuilding returns reported today.
The total is 6,167,002 tons (1,137 steamships and motorships) compared with 6,294,876 (1,136 ships).
Britain is building 3528 per

Germany was the next biggest builder with 10.45 per cent-141 ships totalling 644,301 tors. This Compares with 140 ships of in the previous 633,804 tons

Buenos Aires, Apr. 27.
A Belgian textile engineer, Henr! Dikker, was robbed of jewels valued at 2,000,000 pesos. and 80,000 pesos in cash here on Monday afternoon.
The robbery took place when three well-dressed men, one of them with a drawn revolver, rang
the doorbell at Dikker's sixth floor apartment and forced their entry. Dlikker refused to answer the robbers when they asked where the wall safe was, so two of the men searched the house and found Mrs Dikker, also a Belgian, who was taking a nap in one of the bedrooms.
