HKASF TO ASK GOVERNMENT FOR TAX BENEFITS

At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Amateur Sports Federation, held at the VRC last night with Mr J. Skinner in the chair, it was decided that in- stead of asking Government to abolish entertainment tax on amateur sport in the Colony, the Federation should ask that all such tax leyled from amateur sport should be devoted, in one way or another to sport.

Mr Skinner, in discussing the proposition, said he believed that in this way the man-at-the-gate would actually get more for his money than if entertainment tax on sport were abolished.

As you may imagine, the tension in the England dressing-room on the last day of the Lord's Test was quite remarkable. Even such battle- hardened players as Len Hntton and Alec Bedser were scarcely able to watch a ball.

They sat in the dressing-room for long periods, anxiously asking someone to tell them what had happened every time an extra loud noise came from the excited
