Deficit Turned Into A Surplus

London, Oct. 6.

Britain's balance of payments switched from a deficit of £394 million in the second half of 1951 to a surplus of £24 million in the first half of 1952, the Treasury announced today.

Including United States aid, which jumped from £1 million to £58 million, the improvement was from a deficit of £393 million to a surplus of $82 million.

Apart from the American aid nearly all the improvement was on trade in goods.
