Analysing
Empire Problems
London, Sept. 24. Senior Commonwealth officials today began a detailed analysis of British policy documents and statistics on the Sterling Aren submitted to them by British Ministries.
The officials, over 50 finance and economic experts, started private talks in London on Mon- day to prepare for the Comencni- wealth Prime Ministers' :Con= ferenco here in November. They have sat up a "forum" in which they are seeking further clucida- tion from The British official delegation on various documents and statistica.
This will enable them to skotch a rough subject agenda for their talks and get up several committees on various Sterling Area problems.
These committees will cover long-term policy questions on convertibility, Commonwealth development, commodities, Im- perial Preference and relation- ships with the General Agree- ment on Tariffs and Trade, tha World Bank and the Inter- national Monetary Fund.
The officials are agreed that the talks must cover examing- Hon of both Internal and ex- ternal situations.
The officials will set up a special committee to examine production ond development projects in the Stering Arca
territories.
These projects will be part of the long-term proposals for in- proving the.
Commonweallli Anances and economy.
The experts will examine arguments for and against pro- poaals but will not proffer do- anite governmental décisions. Those would be left for the Prime Ministers condrogenes Reuter
