PETER LOVEGROVE On Rugger

THE CHINA MAIL, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1952.

THIS COULD BE EAST MIDLANDS' YEAR AGAIN FOR THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

East Midlands, Rugby Union County Champions in 1951 and runners-up the previous year, are confidently expected to make a very strong bid to regain the title this season.

They derive their main strength from the Northampton and Bedford clubs, which appear particularly well-equipped in all departments of the game.

Northampton, who can always be relied upon to produce tough and had scrummaging forwards, showed a decline in finishing power outside the pack last season when they lost fourteen matches.
