MARRIED TEACHERS IN THE TRANSVAAL DEMAND EQUAL PAY CONDITIONS

Johannesburg, Sept. 8.

Married women teachers in the Transvaal, one of South Africa's four provinces, are preparing to walk out of their jobs if the Transvaal education authorities do not accede to their demand, for "equal pay for equal work".

Employed on a temporary basis, the married women, of whom there are about 2,200 in the Transvaal, have decided on mass resignations unless they are granted the same salaries and working, conditions as members of the permanent staff in the schools, -
