Malayan Championships Should See Some Great Sprinting
The Malayan AAA Championships at Ipoh late in August should see some of Last year's. Champions Sidique the greatest sprinting in the peninsula's history. Merican of Kelantan and Tan Eng-yoon of Singapore both even time sprinters will have a job of it against Sgt MacQuarrie, who has returned. 10 seconds dead half- a-dozen times already, and against three extraordinary Fijian sprinters.
In the heats of the Army Championships at Seramban, two soldiers of the Fijian Regiment-E, Levula and J. Muakalou-returned 9.8 seconds for a new Malayan record. If the times looked improbable at first, Levula dispelled any doubts by returning 9.9 seconds in the final. Second to him came O. Dawal, who ran for Fiji in the Inst Empire Games in New Zealand.
