GRIP ON THE FIRST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP.

By "TOUCHER"

With the exception of the Second Division gamo between IRC “A” and IRC "B" which was postponed, 'all the Lawn Bowls League matches were played off last Saturday as scheduled.

Chief Interest was centred on the first division match at Cox's Road between Kowloon Cricket Club and the hitherto unbeaten Club de Recreto, and with the Cries ket Club claiming the advantage of playing on their home green, a defeat for the League leaders was thought not to be unlikely.

Recreio, however, gave another brightly consistent performance to emerge the winners by four points to one and so completed their first round games without a defeat.

With a seven-point lead now over their nearest rivals, the Indian Recreation Club, and with five home games in the secondl round, it appears that the 1932 Senior Division League Cham- pionship is already practically in

their grasp.

BELATED STRUGGLE' Kowloon Cricket Club went down valiantly and put up a belated struggle towards the end to overcome lost ground. Hong Sling's rink, which gave the Cricket Club their only point, deserved special mention..

ASPINAL AND COXON DISMISS INDIANS FOR 156 RUNS

The Lead In

Middlesex Takes

County Championship Race

Sunderland, July 3.

Fine bowling by Ron Aspinal, and also Caxon, the former York shire County opening bowlers, playing today, for the minor county team, Durham, forced the Indian cricketers to follow on in the two-day match here which ended in a 'draw.

Coxon and Aspinal, who played regularly for Yorkshire, boyled so well that they captured the 10 wickets between them and the Indians were dismissed for 156- 146 runs behind Durham's total of 302 for six wickets declared.

The Indians scored 101 for three in their second innings, still 45 behind. If the Durham fielding had been as good as the bowling, India might not have renched 100, for Roy and Umrigar, who made 115 between them, were both dropped.

Japanese Olympic Swimmers May Be Seen Here

Efforts to invite the Japanese Olympic swimmers to swim in Hongkong were revealed at a meeting of tho Hongkong Amateur Swimming Association held at the Victoria Recreation Club yesterday with Mr A, de D. Baleg presiding.

Mr Sales said that the response was very encouraging and there was likelihood of the Japanese swimmers being acen in action here.

Mr Sales said that the arrange-. ments of the Japanese to fly to Holinki did not permit of a alopover at Hongkong, with the result that it was not possible to arrange a meet prior to the Games. Efforts would be made al Helsinki to persuade the Jap-. anese to take part in at least one meet here on their return from the Games.

Mr. Sales referred to the lack of a proper swimming pool with adequate seating accommodation. He said that when the Filipino gwimmers visited Hongkong
