Radio Hongkong To Broadcast Coronation Proclamation

Tonight at 8.45 Radio Hongkong is relaying].02 1.1GHT MUSIC. the Coronation Proclamation by the Garter King at Arms from London.. This important ceremony will be read from a balcony overlooking Friary The date set for the Court, St. James's Palace. Coronation itself is Juno. 2nd, 1953, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second will be crown. ed in Westminster Abbey.

To tickle the ears and perhaps the toes of a number of its listeners, Radio Hongkong is enter- ing the field of 'live' Jazz. This will come from- the Hongkong Jazz Club in a series of broadcasts taken from their actual performances on Saturday afternoons in the West Lounge of the YMCA, Kow- loon.

The first of these programmes takes the air this afternoon at 4.15, when "Tex" Dallas will in- troduce and compere the broadcast, which is part of a Jazz Concert.

This Concert marks the first public performance of the Band of the Hongkong Special Constabulary, by kind permission of the Commissioner of Police. This is a band composed entirely of Special Police, every one of whom is a Volunteer. Most of the Band, which numbers approximately 29, ara professional musicians, and are capable of playing any type of music. On this occasion they will render items of modern big band John Arlott on the jazz as played by Stan Kenton, Woody Hermann, and Dizzy Gillespie.

A different style of jazz will be played by the Dixiecrats, This is a group consisting of seven musicians playing in the style of the ragtime bands of the late thirties,

The third combination to play In the Concert will be a £!X+ plecit

band. Playing in this will be several of the group Colony's well-known band lead
